Time for Tucson!

Anticipating our daughter's return from Brazil where she has been on a National Outdoor Leadership School semester and from the posting of the pictures quite an amazing time.  I am exceedingly pleased with her contribution of teaching english at several of the local villages and a school.   I do not know all the details, but I do know I am very proud.  To see the concept of service above self taking hold in our children is really a great attribute.

I am still recovering from a Vitrectomy and scleral buckle on my right eye and my current vision is 20/400.   My cornea is not healing and I had a plug inserted in my upper and lower tear duct to enhance tearing with the hope that it will lead to healing the cornea, so accurate measurements can be taken to have the needed cataract surgery and insertion of an intraocular lens.    There is peripheral retinal scarring of the right eye and until the next surgery it can't be determined how much sight I will retain.
My biggest annoyance is that I have to use eye drops every one to two hours, restasis drops twice a day and my ability to focus, read, write, or to keep my eyes open for any sustained period of time is limited, so it's affecting every aspect of my day.  However I am thankful for what I do have, and keep the spirit that it is healing and the outcome will be great.

We leave for Tucson later this week.  Where we will spend time celebrating Soukaina's adventures in Brazil, have time to see the family in Colorado and hopefully see the Grandkids in Flagstaff.   We will volunteer as in year's past for the basket brigade with the Salvation Army and if you haven't done this I highly recommend it.  It puts the thanks in Thanksgiving by providing a wonderful meal for those who otherwise would not have it. Then some volunteer time with the Arizona Desert Museum and adaptive Scuba teaching.

Were headed out!

Fall is quickly approaching and it's time to start on our next chapter in the life and times of Thom and Ouarda Wells.

Our daughter, Soukaina is off exploring Brazil for the next three months and we are getting ready to set off to see our grandchildren Mae and Lincoln and new adventures abound.

See you on the path!
